Drainage & Groundwork FAQs

We believe in complete transparency. Browse our comprehensive answers to the questions we get asked most frequently by homeowners and business owners across North Yorkshire.

How quickly can you respond to an emergency blocked drain in York?

We offer a rapid-response, 24/7 emergency drainage service. If you are experiencing overflowing toilets, flooding, or severe structural blockages, we aim to be on-site within 1 to 2 hours of your call.

Our service covers a 20-mile radius from York (YO23 2RL), ensuring fast response times across York, Harrogate, Wetherby, Leeds, and surrounding North Yorkshire villages.

What is a CCTV drain survey, and when is it necessary?

A CCTV drain survey is a non-invasive diagnostic method. We insert a high-tech, waterproof camera into your drainage pipes to view live, high-definition footage on an external monitor.

It is essential when:

  • You have recurring blockages that standard jetting won't solve.
  • You are buying a new home (a pre-purchase survey is often requested by mortgage lenders and insurers).
  • There is suspected structural damage, root intrusion, or pipe collapse beneath driveways, patios, or lawns.

You receive a full PDF report, video footage, and an itemised quote for any repairs needed.

Will my home insurance cover a collapsed or damaged drain?

In many instances, yes. Most standard buildings insurance policies include cover for "accidental damage" to underground services, which can include cracked pipes, root damage, or structural collapses.

However, standard wear-and-tear or neglected blockages are rarely covered. Because of our 14+ years of industry experience, we work closely with insurers and can provide structural CCTV survey reports and clear repair estimates to support your insurance claim.

What is no-dig drain relining and how does it work?

Drain relining, or CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) lining, is a modern, trenchless technology that allows us to repair damaged pipes without excavation.

We insert a flexible liner coated in a specialized, eco-safe resin into the damaged pipe. Using an airbag or water inflation, we press the liner against the pipe walls. Once the resin cures, the liner hardens, effectively creating a seamless, ultra-durable "pipe within a pipe".

This technique eliminates the need to dig up expensive patios, driveways, or landscaping, saving you substantial time and money.

Are there fixed prices for drain unblocking?

We believe in transparent pricing. Many standard household blockages (like toilets, sinks, or gullies) can be cleared for a straightforward, pre-agreed fee.

If we arrive and discover a more complex structural problem (such as root infestation or a collapsed main line), we will explain the issue, show you the evidence via our CCTV diagnostic cameras, and provide a clear, no-obligation quote before any repair work begins. There are never any hidden fees.
